Perimenopause and menopause
Lower oestrogen thins the vaginal lining. Hydration with Desirial® relieves dryness and discomfort, and can be combined with hormonal care when appropriate.

Vaginal hydration Seychelles women can rely on: a 15-minute, doctor-led treatment with Desirial®, a hyaluronic acid designed for the vaginal mucosa, to relieve dryness, irritation and discomfort during intimacy — without hormones.
WHAT IS VAGINAL HYDRATION?
Vaginal dryness affects many women after childbirth, while breastfeeding, during perimenopause and menopause, or after cancer treatment. When oestrogen falls, the vaginal lining becomes thinner, less elastic and less able to stay moist — a condition doctors call genitourinary syndrome of menopause.
Vaginal hydration treats the tissue itself. Using very fine needles, your doctor places Desirial®, a cross-linked hyaluronic acid developed specifically for the vaginal mucosa, in tiny points along the vaginal wall. It draws in water, restores suppleness and, in research, has been linked to new collagen production.
Hydration built into the tissue, not applied on the surface every day.
Aims to reduce pain, chafing and burning during and after intercourse.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the body, not a hormone.
A quick appointment with immediate return to daily activities.

YOUR APPOINTMENT
We review your symptoms, history, contraception, hormone use and cervical screening, and examine the tissue to confirm the cause of dryness.
An anaesthetic cream or local anaesthetic is applied, so the treatment feels like light pressure.
Desirial® is placed in tiny points along the vaginal wall with an ultra-fine needle. The treatment itself takes about 15 minutes.
Many women notice more comfort within days. We review you at around eight weeks and advise if, and when, a repeat is useful.
WHEN IS IT RECOMMENDED?
Lower oestrogen thins the vaginal lining. Hydration with Desirial® relieves dryness and discomfort, and can be combined with hormonal care when appropriate.
See BHRT for womenHormonal changes after delivery and while breastfeeding often cause temporary dryness. We usually wait until breastfeeding has finished before injecting.
See Laser VaginoplastyDryness is a frequent cause, but not the only one, so we always examine first. Where dryness is the issue, hydration can make intimacy comfortable again.
See Vaginal PRPBecause hyaluronic acid is not a hormone, it can be considered for women who prefer to avoid vaginal oestrogen. After breast cancer, we coordinate with your oncology team first.
See Vaginal PRPPersistent irritation needs a diagnosis — infections and skin conditions such as lichen sclerosus are treated differently. When dryness is the cause, hydration can bring relief.
See BHRT for womenWHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS
In a 2021 pilot study published in BMC Women’s Health, 20 women with vaginal atrophy received multipoint Desirial® injections. Eight weeks later, dryness, pain during intercourse, itching and chafing had fallen significantly, sexual function scores improved, and 19 of 20 women reported feeling better.
Biopsies showed increased collagen gene activity, although the thickness of the lining did not change. Larger controlled trials are still needed, which is why we explain realistic expectations at your consultation.
Significant reduction in dryness, pain with intercourse, itching and chafing.
Improvement across every dimension of the Female Sexual Function Index.
Women who reported feeling better, slightly better or much better.
A small pilot without a control group; results vary between women.

At Victoria Aesthetics, vaginal hydration with one vial of Desirial® costs SCR 5,800, and the intimate health consultation is SCR 900.
Desirial® is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid developed specifically for injection into the vaginal mucosa to relieve dryness and improve comfort. It contains no hormones.
Anaesthesia is used and the needle is ultra-fine, so most women feel light pressure and brief stinging. The treatment itself takes about 15 minutes.
Hyaluronic acid is gradually absorbed, so the effect is temporary and varies between women. We review you at around eight weeks and plan maintenance together if you need it.
It is a hormone-free option. Vaginal oestrogen remains an effective first-line treatment for many women; we discuss which approach, or combination, suits you best.
Hyaluronic acid is not a hormone, so it may be considered, but we always coordinate with your oncology team before treatment.
Our physicians, under the direction of Dr. Eric Licea, founder and medical director, perform the treatment after a private consultation and examination.
