WHAT WE MEAN BY INFILTRATIVE

A short distance, instead of a long one.

A hair follicle sits a few millimetres under the skin. A capsule swallowed at breakfast has to be absorbed in the gut, pass the liver, circulate through the entire body and arrive — diluted — at the scalp. Infiltrative therapy takes the short route: a very fine needle, or a head of micro-needles, places the active directly in the skin where the follicle lives.

That has two consequences worth being clear about. The first is that the concentration reaching the follicle is far higher for the same amount of product. The second is that far less of it circulates through the rest of you, which is the reason these treatments are chosen over the oral route in the first place — although it reduces systemic exposure rather than removing it.

These are minimally invasive treatments, not non-invasive ones. The skin is broken, deliberately and very superficially, and that is what makes them work.

POLYNUCLEOTIDE MESOTHERAPY · WITH LED

Long chains of purified DNA, obtained from salmon or trout. Injected into the dermis they form a gel that holds water and is understood to support the environment around the follicle rather than to stimulate it directly. The session closes with LED over the treated scalp.

WHY THERE IS MORE THAN ONE

Five routes exist because hair loss is not one problem.

A scalp that is inflamed and a scalp that is simply thinning do not need the same thing. The assessment is what decides which route — or which sequence of routes — your scalp is actually asking for.

THE ROUTES IN DETAIL

What each one actually is.

ONE · POLYNUCLEOTIDE MESOTHERAPY

Purified DNA chains, injected into the dermis.

Polynucleotides are long fragments of purified DNA, obtained from salmon or trout. Placed in the dermis they take up water and form a gel, and the working idea is that they improve the environment the follicle sits in rather than stimulating the follicle directly. The session takes about thirty minutes and closes with LED over the treated scalp.

This is the newest of the five in the hair clinic, and the honest position is that the published evidence for the scalp is still small — a handful of studies, no agreed protocol between clinics, and no long-term data. We will say that at the assessment rather than afterwards.

Two things to tell us before this one. If you have a fish allergy, say so — the material is fish-derived. And it is not used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

TWO · DERMAPEN MICRONEEDLING

A thousand micro-channels a second, and a route in for everything else.

The Dermapen head carries thirty-two micro-needles and opens over a thousand microscopic channels a second across the treated area, at a depth set for your scalp. Two things happen: the controlled micro-injury itself provokes a repair response, and the channels let whatever is applied afterwards reach a depth it could never reach through intact skin.

It is the cheapest of the five and the one most often used as the base of a plan, on its own as a hair renewal course of three sessions, or as the delivery step for a mesotherapy cocktail. It also closes with LED.

THREE · CARBOXYTHERAPY

Medical carbon dioxide, placed just under the skin.

A very small volume of medical-grade carbon dioxide is introduced just beneath the scalp through a fine needle. The local rise in CO₂ makes the tissue behave as though it were short of oxygen, and the body answers by widening the small vessels and increasing blood flow to the area. The premise is circulation rather than nutrition: nothing is being fed to the follicle, the supply line to it is being opened.

It is given as a course of six and the sensation is particular — a brief pressure or tingling as the gas spreads, which passes within a minute. The published evidence for the scalp is small and preliminary, which is why we use it inside a plan rather than as a treatment on its own.

The scalp is mapped and numbed

The areas to treat are marked against the photographs from your assessment, and an anaesthetic cream is applied and left to work. That wait is what decides how comfortable the rest of the appointment is, so it is not rushed.

The active is prepared

Depending on the route, that means drawing up the polynucleotide preparation, reconstituting the exosome vial, spinning your blood for plasma, or loading the Dermapen with a fresh sterile head. Everything is prepared in the room, in front of you.

It goes in, point by point

Micro-injections are placed in a grid across the marked areas, each one shallow and a few millimetres from the last — or, with the Dermapen, the head is passed over the area opening its channels. Most patients describe it as odd rather than painful.

LED closes the session

Light is delivered over the treated scalp to finish, as it is after every infiltrative session in the hair clinic. Nothing is broken by this part; it is the quiet end of the appointment.

The rest of the day, as normal

There is no downtime. Leave the hair unwashed and free of product for a few hours. Some redness, tenderness or small bumps where the injections went in are normal and settle within a day.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU

Honest about who it suits.

USUALLY A GOOD FIT WHEN

  • You are losing hair or thinning, and want something more direct than a tablet or a lotion.
  • You want to avoid the systemic exposure that comes with taking something by mouth every day.
  • Your scalp itself needs attention — condition, circulation, inflammation — and not only the follicle.
  • You can commit to a course and to maintenance afterwards, and judge the result at six months.
  • You have patchy loss or shedding after illness, stress or childbirth, and want it assessed. Those are different conditions from pattern hair loss and are judged case by case.

NOT THE RIGHT TREATMENT WHEN

  • The area has been completely bald for years, with no hair of any kind.
  • Something untreated is driving the loss — thyroid, iron, a medication, a scalp condition. That is addressed first.
  • There is active infection, inflammation or scarring on the scalp.
  • You have a bleeding or platelet disorder, or take anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication. Tell us, because it changes what is possible.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding — polynucleotides in particular are not used.
  • You have a fish allergy and polynucleotides were the plan. Another route is chosen instead.

WHERE THE EVIDENCE STANDS

Not all five are equally studied.

They are sold with the same confidence, and they do not deserve it equally. Here is the more careful version.

  • The better-studied end

    Platelet-rich plasma and microneedling have both been examined in randomised trials in pattern hair loss, with a measurable improvement in density over control. The trials are small and the preparation varies between clinics, but the effect is real and repeatedly reported.

  • The newer end

    Polynucleotides, exosomes and carboxytherapy for the scalp are newer. The published work is a handful of small studies, protocols differ from clinic to clinic, and long-term data does not exist yet. That is not a reason to avoid them; it is a reason to be told before you pay.

The one thing all five share is the logic of the route itself, which is not in dispute: delivering an active into the dermis puts far more of it at the follicle than swallowing it does, and far less of it everywhere else. What varies is how much is known about the active you are delivering.

So the plan we propose tends to start from the better-studied end and add from the newer end where there is a reason to — rather than the other way round. If you would rather start with the newest thing on the menu, we will tell you what that choice is based on.

Responses vary between patients, none of these routes can restore a follicle that is no longer there, and no treatment on this page ends pattern hair loss. What we commit to is an assessment that tells you which kind of hair loss you have, a clear statement of which route suits it and why — including when the honest answer is none of them — standardised photographs so progress is measured rather than remembered, and a conversation at six months about whether continuing is worth your money.

Frequently asked questions.

What is hair mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy means placing an active into the dermis — the layer of skin where the hair follicle sits — through a series of very fine, very shallow injections, rather than taking it by mouth or applying it to the surface. At Victoria Aesthetics the actives used for hair are polynucleotides, exosomes and platelet-rich plasma.

What is the difference between all these treatments?

The route is the same; what travels down it is not. Polynucleotides are purified DNA chains that condition the tissue around the follicle. Exosomes are signalling vesicles. Platelet-rich plasma is your own platelets and their growth factors. Dermapen microneedling delivers no active at all — it provokes repair and opens the way for one. Carboxytherapy introduces medical CO₂ to increase local blood flow.

Which one should I have?

That is what the scalp assessment is for. It depends on the pattern of loss, on the condition of the scalp itself, on whether anything else is driving the loss, and on what you can sustain — these are courses, not single appointments. Most plans start with one route and add a second where there is a reason to.

Does it hurt? Is anaesthesia used?

An anaesthetic cream is applied to the scalp beforehand and left to work. Most patients describe the session as odd or briefly uncomfortable rather than painful. No general anaesthetic is used and you are not sedated.

Is it invasive?

Minimally invasive, which is not the same as non-invasive. The skin is broken, deliberately and very superficially — that is the point of the treatment. There is no cutting, no stitching and no theatre.

How long does a session take?

About thirty minutes for the mesotherapy routes and for Dermapen, and about forty-five for platelet-rich plasma, which includes drawing and spinning the blood.

How many sessions will I need?

Most routes are given as a course of three — polynucleotides two to three weeks apart, Dermapen likewise, platelet-rich plasma four weeks apart. Exosomes run to six sessions fifteen days apart, and carboxytherapy is given as a course of six. Maintenance afterwards is set at medical discretion.

When will I see results?

Gradually. Less shedding and a change in how the scalp feels are usually the first things noticed, around the third month. Density can be judged at about six months, because hair grows roughly a centimetre a month and there is no honest way to assess it sooner. No timeframe can be guaranteed for any individual.

What are the side effects?

Generally mild and short-lived: redness, tenderness, small bumps where the injections went in, occasionally a little bruising. These settle within a day. Infection is uncommon. With carboxytherapy there is a brief pressure or tingling as the gas spreads, which passes within a minute.

Is there anything that rules me out?

Active infection, inflammation or scarring on the scalp; a bleeding or platelet disorder, or anticoagulant and antiplatelet medication; pregnancy and breastfeeding. Polynucleotides specifically are fish-derived, so tell us if you have a fish allergy — another route is chosen instead. Everything is reviewed at the assessment with your medical history in front of us.

Does the mesotherapy cocktail contain drugs?

The preparations used for hair here are polynucleotides, exosomes and your own platelet-rich plasma, each given on its own. Where a vitamin, amino acid or trace element preparation is indicated it is discussed individually at the assessment, and anything that requires a prescription is prescribed and explained rather than mixed in quietly.

What should I do after a session?

Leave the hair unwashed and free of styling product for a few hours. Avoid the pool, the sea, the sauna and strong sun on the scalp for the rest of the day. Wash normally the following morning.

Can these be combined with each other, or with other treatments?

Yes, and they usually are. Microneedling opens the way for a mesotherapy cocktail, LED or low-level laser closes every session, and the infiltrative routes combine with medical treatment for hair loss and with a hair transplant before or after surgery where the surgeon considers it appropriate. The combination is a medical decision, not a menu choice.

What does it cost, and how do I book?

The scalp assessment is SCR 900 and is fully redeemable against your treatment. Sessions run from SCR 1,200 for Dermapen within a course of three to SCR 4,500 for exosome mesotherapy; the full list is in the table above. BEFORE YOU START A COURSE

Hair loss deserves a diagnosis before it gets a needle.

  • Hair that has come out suddenly, in patches, or in handfuls over weeks needs assessing before any course is started.
  • Thyroid disease, iron deficiency, recent illness, significant weight loss, childbirth and several common medications all cause hair loss, and all are treated differently.
  • Fish allergy: polynucleotides are obtained from salmon or trout DNA. Tell us, and a different route is chosen.
  • Tell us about any bleeding or platelet disorder, and about anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication.
  • Redness, scaling, itching, pain or scarring on the scalp should be examined first — scarring alopecias do not respond to these treatments.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, tell us at the assessment. Polynucleotides are not used.

APPOINTMENTS

Booking Policy

At Victoria Aesthetic & Wellness Clinic we reserve professional time, facilities and resources for every patient. This policy explains how to confirm your appointment and how changes, cancellations and advance payments are handled.

1. Deposit to confirm your appointment

To confirm a consultation or treatment, a 50% advance payment of the amount quoted by the clinic for that appointment is required, in Seychelles rupees (SCR).

Before you pay, our team will confirm in writing:

  • The consultation or treatment booked.
  • The applicable price and any authorised discounts, where relevant.
  • The exact deposit amount and the remaining balance.
  • The cancellation or rescheduling notice period that applies.

The deposit is part of the price of the service, not an additional charge. The remaining balance is paid before the service begins, unless a payment schedule has been agreed in writing.

If a treatment still requires medical assessment and has no defined quotation, the booking is for the consultation, not for a treatment that has not yet been indicated.

2. Payment methods and confirmation

The deposit can be paid by bank transfer to the clinic’s official account or at reception before your appointment. Online payment will be available soon; until then, our team will give you instructions for the available payment methods.

For bank transfers, please send the proof of payment showing the patient’s name and the appointment date. Your booking is confirmed once the clinic has verified the payment and sent you confirmation.

Requesting a date or sending a proof of payment does not, on its own, constitute a confirmed appointment.

3. Consultations and treatments

A medical consultation includes a professional assessment and may conclude with a treatment recommendation, a request for tests, a referral, or a decision not to carry out a procedure. Paying for a consultation does not oblige you to purchase a treatment, nor does it guarantee that you are a suitable candidate for one.

Where a benefit allows the consultation fee to be deducted from a treatment, our team will explain the conditions in advance and show the deduction on your account. Deposits already paid are always taken into account to avoid duplicate charges.

4. Cancellations and rescheduling

To change or cancel an appointment, please contact the clinic with the following notice:

  • General appointments: at least 24 hours before the appointment time.
  • Procedures that require specific preparation: at least 48 hours before the appointment time. This will be indicated when you book.

When a change is requested within the notice period, your deposit can be applied to a new date, subject to availability and the conditions of the booking.

Requests for definitive cancellation and refund are handled according to the conditions communicated before payment and the patient’s applicable rights.

If a cancellation or change is requested outside the notice period, or the patient does not attend, the deposit may be forfeited under the conditions accepted for that booking, and a new deposit may be required for a new appointment.

Medical emergencies and other exceptional circumstances are reviewed individually; relevant documentation may be requested.

Forfeiting the deposit for one appointment does not, in itself, mean losing the full balance of a programme or the automatic cancellation of the patient’s other appointments.

5. Changes made by the clinic

If the clinic needs to change an appointment, we will inform you and offer a new date.

If we cannot provide the booked service and you do not accept an alternative, the amount paid in advance for the service not provided will be refunded.

No penalties apply to patients for cancellations made by the clinic.

6. Medical safety and treatments not carried out

Any procedure depends on professional assessment, patient safety and informed consent.

If the clinician decides that a treatment should not go ahead for medical reasons, the reason will be explained to you, together with whether it should be postponed or ruled out.

Where a treatment is ruled out because of a medical contraindication, the amount paid in advance for that treatment only will be refunded. A consultation that has taken place keeps its fee, unless a specific condition or benefit applies.

A treatment will never be carried out simply because a deposit has been paid.

7. Packages and programmes

Session packages and programmes for weight management, hormonal care or other services come with their own written conditions.

Before payment, we will set out the services included, the price, the payment schedule, the validity period and the conditions for interruption or cancellation.

A deposit already applied to the price of a package or programme will not be charged again for sessions that are paid for.

If you ask to interrupt a programme, the clinic will provide a breakdown of the services delivered, the payments received and the corresponding balance, handled according to the conditions accepted when you purchased it and your applicable rights.

Package validity and any conditions are always agreed in writing before purchase; no conditions will be applied that were not communicated and accepted in advance.

Surgery, VA Wellness Club memberships and financing plans keep their own conditions, communicated and accepted in advance. Any exception to this policy will be identified before payment.

8. Punctuality

Please arrive on time so that we have the time needed for your care.

If you are running late, our team will assess whether the appointment can go ahead without compromising safety, quality of care or the following appointments.

If rescheduling is necessary, we will explain how the conditions of your booking apply. A procedure will never be rushed to make up for a late arrival.

9. Communication and acceptance

This policy is shared with you before any deposit is requested. Any special conditions for your booking are also confirmed in writing.

Payment confirms the booking under the conditions previously communicated and accepted; it does not replace medical consent for a treatment.

Updates to this policy apply to new bookings and do not retroactively change conditions already accepted.

Nothing in this policy limits the rights that patients have under the applicable laws of Seychelles.
