Treats the vein itself
Rather than covering or lightening the surface, the solution acts inside the vessel, which is why closed veins do not come back.
VEIN SCLEROSIS · MAHÉ, SEYCHELLES
Sclerotherapy Seychelles, performed by Dr. Eric Licea: a medical solution is injected into spider and reticular veins with an ultra-fine needle, the vein wall closes, and your body reabsorbs it over the following weeks. No incision, no anaesthetic needed, back to your day straight after.

HOW IT WORKS
Medical sclerotherapy
Spider and reticular veins are small surface veins that have stopped working properly and stay visibly filled with blood. A sclerosing solution, polidocanol, irritates the inner lining of the vein so that its walls stick together and close. Blood simply reroutes through healthy veins, and the closed vessel is reabsorbed over the following weeks. That is why sclerotherapy Seychelles patients see their veins fade gradually rather than disappear on the day.
Rather than covering or lightening the surface, the solution acts inside the vessel, which is why closed veins do not come back.
Many patients notice that the aching, heaviness and itching that came with the veins improve along with the appearance.
Each session takes between fifteen and forty minutes, with no anaesthetic and no downtime to plan around.
Sclerotherapy is the reference treatment for spider and reticular veins. Dr. Eric Licea assesses your legs first, and larger varicose veins are investigated before anything is injected. Read the Cochrane review on treating spider and reticular veins (opens in a new tab).
WHICH VEINS
Assessed before treatment

Fine red or purple threads, often on the thighs and around the knees. The most common reason people book, and the quickest to respond.

Blue-green veins just under the skin that often feed the spider veins around them. Treating them first gives longer-lasting results.

Slightly raised, twisting veins. Many respond well to sclerotherapy, with more sessions or an extra vial planned at consultation.

Bulging veins, swelling or skin changes can point to a deeper valve problem. These are investigated first, and we refer you when another treatment is needed.

THE SLOW PART
YOUR COURSE
Week 0 to month 4
Most legs need a course of about three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, so each one can be judged once the previous veins have faded. Some veins clear in one; others need more.
01
Dr. Eric Licea examines your legs standing, maps the veins and their feeders, reviews your medical history and confirms whether sclerotherapy is the right treatment, or whether larger veins need investigating first.
02
The solution is injected with an ultra-fine needle into the targeted veins. Expect a mild sting, some redness and small bumps along the treated veins for a day or two.
03
Treated veins turn darker, then gradually fade as the body reabsorbs them. Bruising settles within one to two weeks.
04
After four to six weeks, the veins that remain are treated, often including the reticular veins that feed the spider veins.
05
A final pass and a review of the result, comparing with the photographs taken at the start. Further touch-ups are planned only if they are needed.
06
Closed veins do not reopen, but new ones can form over the years. Movement, a healthy weight and, where advised, compression keep new veins to a minimum.
IS IT FOR YOU
Sclerotherapy is the reference treatment for spider veins, reticular veins and many small varicose veins. It is quick, effective and needs no recovery time.
Large bulging varicose veins, leg swelling or skin changes around the ankle can mean a valve problem deeper down. Those need investigating first, and we will tell you plainly when another specialist or treatment is the right answer.
MONT FLEURI, MAHÉ
AFTER YOUR SESSION
You walk out and carry on with your day. Mild redness, small bumps and some bruising along the treated veins are normal and settle within one to two weeks.
The sun matters more here than people expect. Fresh sclerotherapy under tropical light can leave brownish marks along the vein, which is why protection is part of the treatment.

QUESTIONS
Every vein assessment and sclerotherapy session is performed by Dr. Eric Licea at our clinic in Mont Fleuri, Mahé, after examining your legs and reviewing your medical history.
It is the medical name for closing unwanted veins with a sclerosing solution, also called sclerotherapy. The solution makes the vein walls stick together, blood reroutes through healthy veins and the body reabsorbs the closed vessel.
The needle is ultra-fine, so most people feel a quick sting or a mild burning sensation for a few seconds per injection. No anaesthetic is needed.
Most sclerotherapy Seychelles patients need about three sessions, four to six weeks apart. Fine spider veins may clear sooner; larger or more numerous veins may need more.
Treated veins usually look darker for a short time, then fade over three to six weeks. Larger veins can take a few months to clear completely.
No. You can walk out and go back to normal activities the same day. Avoid hot baths, intense training and strong sun for the first days, and wear compression if it is advised.
Common ones are mild redness, small bumps, bruising and temporary brownish marks along the vein. Rare complications are discussed at your assessment, together with the warning signs that mean you should call us.
A vein that has closed does not reopen, but new veins can appear over the years, especially with family history, pregnancy or long hours standing. A touch-up session is simple when that happens.
Consultation is key. Your veins, your protocol and your price are confirmed face to face by Dr. Eric Licea, who performs the treatment.
