AT A GLANCE

A medical laser treatment, not a beauty facial.

A thin layer of carbon lotion is applied to clean skin and allowed to settle. Medical laser energy is then delivered systematically across the area, interacting with the carbon particles and creating a controlled photoacoustic effect as the carbon is fragmented and lifted from the surface.

The result is a superficial cleansing and exfoliating effect that may improve the appearance of oiliness, congestion, pores, texture and overall clarity. What it is not is a replacement for the treatments that correct deeper problems.

A carbon peel should not be chosen because it is fashionable. It should be chosen because it is appropriate for your skin.

DESIRE & PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION

When your skin needs more than a facial.

Six starting points

Humidity, oil production, sunscreen, makeup, environmental exposure and daily life can leave skin looking congested, uneven or simply tired. The Medical Carbon Laser Peel is designed as a low-downtime clinical refresh for patients who want visible polish without an aggressive resurfacing procedure.

  • Dull, tired-looking facial skin

    Dull, tired-looking skin

When the skin has stopped catching the light and a good night's sleep is no longer fixing it.

  • Close-up of oily, congested skin

    Oily, congested skin

Excess sebum and a surface that looks blocked rather than clean, particularly in a humid climate.

  • Close-up showing skin texture and pores

    Visible pores

Refining the appearance of enlarged pores and uneven surface texture over a treatment series.

  • Skin with comedonal congestion

    Blackheads & comedonal congestion

Carbon-assisted laser treatment combined with an overall skin-health strategy rather than used on its own.

  • Acne-prone skin

    Acne-prone skin

May support selected patients with oily, acne-prone skin as part of a broader medical plan. Acne is a medical condition, not a laser problem.

  • Patient with refreshed, luminous skin

    Pre-event skin refresh

A popular option when you want smoother, brighter-looking skin with little expected social downtime.

When your skin needs to look refreshed — but you do not want a major recovery period.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS

What is a medical carbon laser peel?

Carbon · laser · lift

Illustration of the carbon peel sequence across a treatment area
Illustration of the treatment sequence, not a treatment result.
  1. 01

    Carbon applied

A thin, even layer of carbon lotion is applied to clean skin and allowed to settle into the surface and into the pores.

  2. 02

    Laser pass

Medical laser energy is delivered systematically across the area. The light is absorbed by the carbon particles rather than by your own pigment.

  3. 03

    Carbon lifted

A controlled photoacoustic effect fragments the carbon and lifts it from the surface, taking surface debris and oil with it.

Medical laser platform in the treatment room

Why a medical laser matters

Clinical skin assessment before treatment, a medical-grade laser platform, parameters selected for the individual, skin of colour considerations, physician supervision, and a structured aftercare and escalation pathway if your skin turns out to need something else.

Clinical skin assessment at Victoria Aesthetics

Not a generic beauty facial

We assess your skin first and decide whether carbon-assisted laser treatment — or another medical aesthetic strategy — is more appropriate for your primary concern. Sometimes the answer is that a carbon peel is not the treatment you need.

What the evidence says

Published studies of carbon-assisted 1064 nm Nd:YAG protocols have reported improvement in acne lesions and sebum-related concerns. Response varies between patients and the evidence base remains smaller than for many established dermatologic therapies, which is why we describe likely benefit rather than promise it.

BENEFITS & EXPECTATIONS

What can the carbon laser peel improve?

And what it cannot

  • 01

    Brighter-looking skin

Helps refresh dull, tired-looking skin and improve overall luminosity.

  • 02

    Smoother texture

Superficial exfoliation can leave the skin feeling cleaner and more polished.

  • 03

    Pore appearance

May reduce the visible appearance of enlarged pores over a treatment series.

  • 04

    Oiliness & congestion

May help selected patients with excess sebum, blackheads and congested skin.

  • 05

    Acne-prone skin

Can form part of a broader strategy for selected acne-prone patients after medical assessment.

  • 06

    Low-downtime refresh

Chosen when patients want visible improvement without the recovery of more intensive resurfacing.

WHAT THIS TREATMENT IS NOT

The Carbon Laser Peel is not a substitute for fractional resurfacing, targeted pigment laser treatment, scar revision or medical acne management when those treatments are clinically indicated.

Not every brown spot needs a carbon peel. Not every acne patient needs a laser. We choose the treatment after identifying the problem.

Patients of several different skin tones

TROPICAL CLIMATE · MELANIN-RICH SKIN · PERSONALISED LASER SETTINGS

Designed with Seychelles skin in mind.

Living here means year-round ultraviolet exposure, heat, humidity, daily sunscreen and frequent outdoor activity. Every one of those influences oiliness, congestion, pigmentation risk and how any laser-based treatment should be planned.

Carbon-assisted 1064 nm Nd:YAG protocols have been studied in skin of colour, including acne-prone patients. No laser treatment should be described as risk-free, so we consider skin phototype, recent sun exposure, pigmentation history, active inflammation and the treatment endpoint before selecting any parameters.

  • Patient selection

First we determine whether a carbon peel is appropriate for your concern at all.

  • Parameter selection

Settings are individualised rather than taken from a one-size-fits-all facial protocol.

  • Photoprotection

Daily broad-spectrum sun protection and sensible post-treatment UV avoidance matter particularly here.

“Tropical living does not mean avoiding laser treatment. It means planning laser treatment intelligently.”

PLANNING AN EVENT?

Tell us how long you have, not how soon you can come in.

Most people book a carbon peel with a date in mind — a wedding, a holiday, a shoot, a weekend that matters. The honest answer depends entirely on how much runway you have. Move the slider to the number of weeks between today and the day itself.

If it is your first session, schedule it far enough ahead that we can see how your skin responds, rather than introducing a new laser treatment days before you need to look your best.

WEEKS UNTIL YOUR EVENT

4weeks

COMFORTABLE — ONE SESSION

One session, about two weeks before

Four weeks is enough room for a single treatment with time to spare. We would book the assessment and the session together in the next fortnight, leaving roughly two weeks of margin before the day.

PATIENT JOURNEY

Your medical carbon peel journey.

45–60 minutes

  1. STEP 01

    Personalised skin check

We review your main concern, skin type, active products, recent procedures, sun exposure and anything else that may affect treatment.

  2. STEP 02

    Carbon application

A thin, even layer of carbon lotion is applied to the treatment area and allowed to settle before any laser energy is delivered.

  3. STEP 03

    Medical laser treatment

The laser is passed systematically over the skin using settings selected for you. You may hear light snapping sounds as the laser interacts with the carbon.

  4. STEP 04

    Recovery & hydration

The skin is cleansed and soothing, barrier-supportive products may be applied according to what your skin needs on the day.

  5. STEP 05

    Aftercare & SPF

You leave with clear instructions for cleansing, active skincare, sun protection and when to contact the clinic if your skin reacts unexpectedly.

Most patients describe warmth, light snapping or tingling. Comfort varies by individual and by the settings chosen.

RESULTS, DOWNTIME & FREQUENCY

Glow now. Build better skin habits over time.

Hours to weeks

  1. AFTER TREATMENT

    The immediate refresh

Skin may look cleaner, smoother and brighter. Mild temporary pinkness or warmth can occur, which is why we call the downtime minimal rather than zero.

  2. FIRST 24–48 HOURS

    Keep it gentle

Keep skincare simple, avoid unnecessary irritation and use broad-spectrum SPF. Avoid deliberate intense sun exposure immediately after treatment.

  3. FOLLOWING WEEKS

    Progressive change

Some patients notice gradual improvement in oiliness, pores, texture or acne-related concerns across a series of treatments. Results vary.

  4. ONGOING

    Maintenance is a choice

Maintenance is optional and based on your goals, not a medical requirement. Some patients keep coming back for the refresh; others move on to a different treatment once the real concern is identified.

How many sessions?

For a one-off pre-event refresh, a single session may be all you want. For persistent oiliness, congestion, pore appearance or acne-prone skin, a short series may be recommended after assessment. Published carbon-assisted Nd:YAG studies have commonly used around 3 to 5 sessions, often spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart — but your schedule should be individualised rather than copied from a paper.

What not to expect

Individual response varies. The Carbon Laser Peel should not be expected to permanently eliminate pores, acne, pigmentation, wrinkles or oil production. It is a skin-quality treatment, not a permanent correction.

CANDIDACY & SAFETY

Is the medical carbon peel right for you?

Assessed, not assumed

MAY BE SUITABLE IF YOUR MAIN CONCERN IS

  • Dullness and a tired-looking complexion
  • Oily or congested skin
  • Visible pores
  • Mild textural irregularity
  • Selected acne-prone skin, within a broader plan
  • A low-downtime refresh before an event

Wanting a low-downtime treatment is a perfectly good reason to ask about it. Whether it is the right one for your skin is a separate question.

ASSESSMENT REQUIRED · MAY BE POSTPONED, MODIFIED OR AVOIDED

  • Active skin infection or open lesions
  • Significant active inflammation
  • Recent intense sun exposure or tanning
  • Pregnancy, or photosensitising medication
  • Recent procedures in the same area
  • Abnormal scarring history or highly reactive skin

This is not an exhaustive contraindication list. Final suitability is determined during your clinical assessment.

IF PIGMENTATION IS YOUR MAIN CONCERN

We identify the pigment before we choose the laser.

The likely type and depth of pigment come first. Depending on that diagnosis, SmartPicosecond pigment treatment, medical skincare or another strategy may be more appropriate than a carbon peel — and we would rather tell you that at the assessment than after three sessions.

MEDICAL AUTHORITY

Why Victoria Aesthetics?

A carbon peel is easy to market as a beauty trend. The difference here is how it is assessed, selected and delivered: a medical aesthetics clinic using medical laser technology under physician supervision, with parameters and aftercare adapted to the individual patient.

Dr. Eric Licea, MD, MSc

Medical Director — Victoria Aesthetics

Specialist in medical-surgical laser and advanced aesthetics, with a background in general surgery and energy-based medicine.

  • Medical laser

Performed on a clinical laser platform, not a consumer beauty device.

  • Personalised parameters

Settings selected according to skin characteristics and the treatment objective.

  • Clinical escalation

If a carbon peel is not the best option, we redirect you to a more appropriate treatment.

  • Seychelles-specific planning

Skin type, pigmentation risk and tropical sun exposure are part of the plan.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions.

Is a carbon laser peel the same as a normal facial?

No. A carbon laser peel uses a topical carbon lotion together with medical laser energy. It is a laser-based clinical treatment rather than a manual cleansing facial.

Does a carbon laser peel hurt?

Most patients describe warmth, light snapping or tingling rather than significant pain. Sensation varies with individual sensitivity and with the laser settings chosen.

Is there downtime after a carbon laser peel?

Most patients return to normal daily activities quickly, which is one reason the treatment is popular. Mild temporary redness, warmth, dryness or sensitivity can occur, so we describe it as minimal downtime rather than zero downtime.

Can a carbon peel be used on darker skin?

It may be suitable for many darker skin tones when appropriately selected and performed with suitable parameters. However, no laser treatment is risk-free. We assess skin phototype, pigmentation history, active inflammation and recent sun exposure before treatment.

Can a carbon peel treat acne?

Carbon-assisted 1064 nm Nd:YAG protocols have shown improvement in acne lesions and sebum-related concerns in small clinical studies. It may be useful for selected acne-prone patients, but acne is a medical condition and some patients need a broader treatment plan rather than laser alone.

Will it remove pigmentation or sun spots?

A carbon peel may improve overall skin clarity, but it is not automatically the best treatment for a defined pigment lesion. If pigmentation is your main concern we first assess the type of pigment, and may recommend SmartPicosecond treatment, medical skincare or another approach.

How many carbon peel sessions do I need?

A single session can be chosen for a skin refresh. For oiliness, congestion, pore appearance or acne-prone skin, a short series may be recommended. Clinical studies have used different schedules, commonly around 3 to 5 sessions, so your plan is individualised.

Can I have a carbon peel before a wedding or special event?

Yes — it is one of the most common reasons people choose it, because expected social downtime is low. If it is your first session, schedule it far enough in advance that we can see how your skin responds, rather than introducing a new laser treatment immediately before the event.

Can I go to the beach after treatment?

We recommend avoiding deliberate intense sun exposure immediately after treatment and using broad-spectrum SPF consistently. Your clinician will give you specific post-treatment guidance based on your skin and the settings used.

How long does the glow last?

The immediate refreshed appearance varies between individuals and is influenced by skincare, oil production, sun exposure and lifestyle. A carbon peel is best viewed as a skin-quality treatment rather than a permanent correction.

Medical assessment · no one-size-fits-all settings · an alternative treatment recommended if a carbon peel is not the best fit.

OUR COMMITMENT

Satisfaction Guarantee

We would like to give you a 100% satisfaction guarantee for all our treatments, because we believe in each treatment we offer and in the quality and preparation of our staff. We will always offer you the treatment that we honestly believe could benefit you the most.

Ultimately, you are free to decide whether to move forward with all, some, or none of the treatment options we propose. Please take your time to consider whether our approach suits your needs in whole or at least in part.

What we can and cannot guarantee

Aesthetic and medical results are variable from person to person and many elements influence them. Although we do our best to achieve the result you desire, results cannot always be guaranteed. Ageing is a complex process influenced by many variables, and it does not stop.

Most people need a combination of treatments over a variable period — from weeks to months — followed by intermittent maintenance treatments to preserve the results obtained. This approach gives you the greatest chance of a natural, genuine and long-lasting rejuvenation.

What we do promise and guarantee are the highest possible standards in products used, human team, comfort, discretion, and safe and personalised attention, regardless of the treatment.

Your decisions and responsibilities

  • You are free to accept or reject our treatment proposal at any stage of the process. Please discuss your concerns and doubts thoroughly with our team before agreeing to a personalised treatment plan.
  • To be emphatic: you agree to purchase the treatment offered, not the result of the treatment performed.
  • You are responsible for the cost of additional treatments until you achieve the results you expect.
  • Your responsibility also covers the cost of resolving complications that may occur during or because of the treatments you undergo. We will do everything possible to limit such risks, following up-to-date protocols with sufficiently trained personnel.
  • Where complications are resolved in our centre, the charges for materials will be borne by you and we will cover the cost of performing the work.
  • Please read the informed consent documents and post-treatment care instructions in full, and ask us if you have any questions.

Disclaimer of warranties

We deliver the service “as is”, “with all faults” and “as available”, and the full risk as to satisfactory quality, execution, precision, safety and effort is with you. To the maximum level permitted by applicable law, we make no representations, warranties or conditions, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title and non-infringement, or that access to the service will be continuous or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the level permitted by applicable law, Victoria Wellness Center and its staff shall not be liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, punitive or exemplary damages, or for loss of use, data, business, revenues or profits arising out of or in connection with the services. The cumulative liability of the protected entities will not exceed the amount paid by you, if any, for accessing the service.

Term and termination

These terms remain in full force and effect until terminated. Either party may terminate them at any time without notice. Upon termination or expiration, Victoria Wellness Center will stop providing the service to you.
