MEASUREFunction, not just a pain score

WHEN PAIN BECOMES PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE

You do not have to face it without a plan.

Perhaps you wake up stiff every morning. Walking has become uncomfortable. You avoid exercise, struggle with headaches, or feel burning in your hands or feet. You may already have tried medication, physiotherapy, injections or surgery without the improvement you hoped for.

Chronic pain is rarely one thing. It can involve joints, muscles, nerves, inflammation, old injuries, or changes in how the nervous system itself processes pain — and different types of pain need different strategies. So pain management Seychelles patients can trust begins by understanding your condition, before recommending any procedure.

You do not need to commit to a procedure to request a pain assessment.

OUR COMMITMENT

  • Listen carefully to your symptoms and concerns
  • Identify possible causes and contributing factors
  • Explain appropriate treatment options
  • Combine medical and physical therapies when beneficial
  • Monitor outcomes and adjust your plan
  • Refer to other specialists whenever necessary

Your pain is personal. Your treatment should be too.

WHAT TYPES OF CHRONIC PAIN DO WE ASSESS?

Where does it hurt?

Seven assessment pathways

Select the area that matches your main problem. Each pathway starts with an assessment, not with a procedure — and some of them deliberately do not lead to an injection at all.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT

More treatment options. One individualised plan.

Six components

We integrate physical technologies, medical treatment and selected procedures to address different pain mechanisms. Which of them you actually need is decided after the assessment, not before it.

Therapeutic laser being applied at the clinic

01

Therapeutic 980 nm diode laser

Precision light-based therapy for selected pain conditions

Depending on the diagnosis and treatment parameters, therapeutic laser may be considered as part of a programme for selected muscular pain and soft-tissue discomfort, certain tendon-related conditions, selected joint-related symptoms, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and persistent localised pain where laser therapy is clinically appropriate.

Laser treatment may influence pain signalling and local biological responses, but clinical results depend on the condition, the device settings and the protocol. What patients tend to value is that it is non-surgical, targeted, and can sit inside a broader rehabilitation plan.

Important. A 980 nm laser is not a universal treatment for chronic pain. Its use must follow the device's intended indications, appropriate safety precautions and clinician-approved protocols. It does not guarantee tissue regeneration or permanent pain relief.

Ask about 980 nm laser pain therapy
Localised therapy being delivered at the clinic

02

Localised cold air cryotherapy

Targeted cooling for comfort and recovery

Controlled cooling delivered to selected treatment areas. It may be used as a complementary option for localised muscular discomfort, selected musculoskeletal pain, post-exercise soreness, certain rehabilitation programmes, and short-term symptom management after appropriate assessment.

  • Non-invasive, no injections required
  • Targeted local cooling
  • Can be combined with rehabilitation
  • Generally brief sessions

Important. Cryotherapy is primarily a symptom-management tool. It does not repair damaged cartilage, regenerate nerves or replace diagnosis-specific treatment. Patients with cold-sensitivity disorders, impaired sensation or certain circulatory conditions require particular caution.

Ask about therapeutic cryotherapy

03

Interventional pain medicine

Targeted procedures for selected pain mechanisms

Some conditions may benefit from procedures directed at specific joints, tissues or nerves. Depending on clinical indication, practitioner qualifications and facility availability, options may include:

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks
  • Selected joint injections
  • Trigger-point injections
  • Ultrasound-guided procedures
  • Selected epidural procedures
  • Facet and medial branch assessment
  • Radiofrequency procedures
  • Selected headache and neuralgia interventions
  • Botulinum toxin for appropriately diagnosed chronic migraine

The right procedure begins with the right diagnosis. Not all interventions are available or appropriate for every patient. Some require specialised equipment, an authorised procedural setting, or referral.

04

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

A biological option for selected musculoskeletal conditions

PRP is prepared from a sample of your own blood and contains concentrated platelets. It has been investigated for conditions including knee osteoarthritis and certain chronic tendinopathies, and for selected patients it may be considered as one component of a comprehensive strategy.

What patients should understand

  • PRP is not appropriate for every injury
  • Evidence varies between conditions and preparation methods
  • Improvement cannot be guaranteed
  • Rehabilitation may remain essential

Important. PRP is not presented here as proven cartilage reconstruction or permanent tissue regeneration.

05 · REGENERATIVE & NEUROACTIVE PEPTIDE RESEARCH

Where we draw the line between research and care.

Regenerative and neuroactive peptides are an area of genuine scientific interest, including research into tissue repair, inflammatory signalling and nerve-related mechanisms. Compounds such as BPC-157, TB-500 and ARA-290 have attracted attention — but their proposed benefits for chronic pain or tissue regeneration are not established as routine clinical treatments.

Victoria Aesthetics distinguishes emerging research from clinically validated care. Investigational peptides are not presented here as proven treatments for neuropathy, joint degeneration or tendon repair. Any clinical application would require an appropriate evidence base, product quality assessment, regulatory authorisation and informed consent.

Our medical team can discuss established alternatives, and explain exactly where the evidence for emerging therapies remains uncertain.

06 · REHABILITATION & WHOLE-PERSON PAIN CARE

Technology alone is rarely the complete answer.

Depending on the diagnosis, an individualised programme may include physiotherapy and rehabilitation coordination, therapeutic exercise and progressive strengthening, medication review and optimisation, sleep and stress-management strategies, nutrition and metabolic health support, weight management where clinically relevant, psychological approaches to persistent pain, and specialist referral with ongoing monitoring.

The goal is not to sell more procedures. The goal is to find the most appropriate combination for you.

THE VICTORIA PAIN PRECISION PATHWAY™

A structured approach from assessment to recovery.

Six stages

  1. 01

    Assess

Your symptoms, medical history, medications, previous treatments, and the impact pain has on your life.

  2. 02

    Understand

Relevant physical and neurological findings, existing imaging reviewed, and whether further investigation is appropriate.

  3. 03

    Personalise

Your clinician discusses the likely pain mechanisms, the treatment options, their limitations and realistic goals.

  4. 04

    Treat

Medication, therapeutic laser, cryotherapy, rehabilitation, selected interventions or appropriate biological treatments.

  5. 05

    Rebuild

Where possible, working towards better movement, physical capacity, sleep and confidence in daily activities.

  6. 06

    Review

Progress measured through symptoms, function and quality-of-life goals. The plan is adjusted when it needs to be.

Diagnosis before procedure. Function before promises.

STILL IN PAIN AFTER OTHER TREATMENTS?

Sometimes the next step is a different assessment — not another injection.

If medication, physiotherapy, previous injections or surgery have not given you enough relief, there may still be options worth exploring. Persistent pain can involve several mechanisms at once, so a treatment may genuinely address one source while another carries on untouched.

  • Does the original diagnosis still fit?

The first question worth re-asking, and the one most often skipped.

  • Is neuropathic or nociplastic pain involved?

Pain generated by the nervous system itself responds to different treatment than tissue damage does.

  • Do the goals need to change?

Sometimes the treatment was reasonable and the expectation was not.

  • Has rehabilitation been properly tailored?

Generic exercise programmes fail for specific problems.

  • Is an interventional procedure justified?

And, just as importantly, whether it is not.

  • Should another specialist be involved?

Referral is an outcome of a good assessment, not a failure of one.

You do not need to commit to a procedure to request a pain assessment.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions.

What is chronic pain?

Chronic pain generally refers to pain that persists or recurs for more than three months, the definition used in the NICE chronic pain guideline (NG193). It can involve physical injury, disease, nerve dysfunction, altered pain processing, or several of these mechanisms at the same time.

Who leads pain management Seychelles care at Victoria Aesthetics?

Dr. Maria Rey Quintana, anaesthesiologist, leads the Advanced Pain Management & Regenerative Medicine Unit. Every plan starts with a physician assessment of your back pain, joint pain, nerve pain or other chronic pain.

Does Victoria Aesthetics treat all chronic pain conditions?

The unit is designed to assess a broad range of chronic pain conditions. Some require specialist referral or coordinated treatment outside the clinic, and saying so is part of the assessment rather than a shortcoming of it.

Can a 980 nm laser help with pain?

A therapeutic 980 nm diode laser may be considered for selected conditions using appropriate equipment settings and clinical protocols. Benefits vary, and it is not a proven universal solution for chronic pain.

What is cold air cryotherapy used for?

Localised cold air cryotherapy may provide temporary relief of certain musculoskeletal symptoms and support selected rehabilitation programmes. It does not repair damaged tissues.

Can PRP help with knee osteoarthritis?

PRP has been studied for knee osteoarthritis, but the evidence and the clinical recommendations vary. Suitability should be discussed after assessment rather than assumed from the diagnosis alone.

Do you treat neuropathic pain?

We assess selected neuropathic pain conditions and consider diagnosis-specific management, rehabilitation, appropriate interventions, and referral where necessary.

Can regenerative peptides repair damaged nerves?

This has not been established as a routine clinical treatment. Experimental peptide therapies require careful consideration of the evidence, safety and regulatory status, and we will tell you plainly where that evidence currently stands.

Can you treat chronic migraine?

Chronic migraine is included in our assessment scope. Management may include a review of preventive treatment, selected procedures, or referral to an appropriately qualified specialist.

Can you help with fibromyalgia?

Yes. Our approach to fibromyalgia emphasises multidisciplinary assessment, education, physical activity, sleep and quality-of-life improvement — rather than relying on injections.

Can I avoid surgery?

Some patients may benefit from non-surgical treatment. However, surgery remains necessary or preferable in certain conditions, and delaying it can be harmful. If that is your situation, we will say so.

Will I need injections?

Not necessarily. Many patients benefit from non-procedural treatment, rehabilitation or medical management.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

The number and frequency depend on the condition, the treatment selected and your individual response. We do not prescribe a standard number of sessions for every patient.

Can chronic pain be completely cured?

Some underlying conditions can be treated successfully, but complete pain elimination cannot be guaranteed. Improving function and quality of life is often the more important — and more achievable — treatment goal.

How do I book?

Book online through Salonist or message us on WhatsApp to request a chronic pain assessment with our pain management Seychelles team.
