WHAT IT IS
A recognised medical condition
Hyperhidrosis is sweating well beyond what the body needs to cool itself, often in the underarms, palms, soles or groin, and often on a cool day, at rest, or under mild stress. Large surveys suggest it affects close to one in twenty people, yet most never ask a doctor about it. In a tropical climate like ours it is easy to dismiss as normal. It is not, and hyperhidrosis treatment in Seychelles is simpler than most people expect. Read the study on how common hyperhidrosis is (opens in a new tab).
The common form: overactive sweat glands in specific areas, usually starting in the teens or twenties, often running in families. Otherwise healthy.
Sweating caused by something else, such as thyroid problems, medication or hormonal change. It usually affects the whole body, and the cause is investigated first.
Stained shirts, avoided handshakes and changed clothes at lunchtime. Treating it is about confidence and comfort, not vanity.
Every plan starts with an assessment by Dr. Eric Licea: where you sweat, how much, what you have already tried, and whether there is a medical cause to rule out first.

BOTULINUM TOXIN
Fine micro-injections across the sweating area of both underarms. The toxin blocks the nerve signal that switches the sweat glands on, so sweating drops sharply within days and stays down for months.

TWO ROUTES
Botulinum toxin is the most widely used medical treatment for hyperhidrosis: quick, no recovery, and repeated when sweating returns. It suits every area, including hands, feet and the intimate area.
Laser liposhaving is for the underarms. Through a 2 mm opening under local anaesthetic, laser energy destroys the sweat glands and a fine cannula removes them. Glands that are removed do not grow back, which is why it is the option for people tired of repeating treatment. Read a study on long-term results of sweat-gland removal (opens in a new tab).
THE QUIET PART
YOUR TIMELINE
Day 0 to month 6
Both routes start in the same place: an assessment, a sweat map and an honest conversation about which method fits your life.
01
Dr. Eric Licea reviews where and when you sweat, what you have tried and your medical history, and rules out a secondary cause before recommending a route.
02
An iodine-starch test shows exactly where the active glands are, so every injection or every pass of the laser lands where it is needed.
03
Botox takes about thirty minutes with fine micro-injections. Laser liposhaving takes one to two hours under local anaesthetic, through a 2 mm opening in each underarm.
04
With Botox, sweating drops within two to seven days. After laser, expect a few days of tenderness, swelling or bruising while the area settles.
05
You are seen again to check the result. Any small area that still sweats can be touched up, and the photographs and sweat map are compared.
06
Botox is repeated when sweating starts to return, usually after several months. After laser, the removed glands do not grow back.
IS IT FOR YOU
Women & men

Visible patches within an hour of getting dressed, even indoors and in air conditioning.

Clinical-strength products irritate the skin or barely make a difference any more.

Damp handshakes, slipping phones and sandals you avoid wearing. Botox treats these areas too.

If Botox works but you want a lasting answer for the underarms, laser liposhaving is the next step.
MONT FLEURI, MAHÉ
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
Botox needs almost nothing from you beyond a quiet first day. Laser liposhaving asks a little more for a few days, because the tissue under the skin is healing.
Either way you leave with written aftercare and a direct line to the clinic.

QUESTIONS
Every assessment, Botox treatment and laser procedure is performed by Dr. Eric Licea at our clinic in Mont Fleuri, Mahé, after a full review of where you sweat and of your medical history.
Yes. Microbotox describes the technique: botulinum toxin placed in many tiny, shallow micro-injections across the sweating skin, where the glands are. It is the same medical treatment, delivered precisely.
Underarm injections feel like quick pinpricks. Hands and feet are more sensitive, so numbing is used there. Laser liposhaving is done under local anaesthetic, so the procedure itself is comfortable.
For most hyperhidrosis treatment in Seychelles patients, the effect lasts several months and is often longer in the underarms than on the face. Sweating returns gradually, and the treatment is simply repeated.
The glands that are destroyed and removed do not grow back, so most patients keep the result long term. Not every gland can be removed, so some light sweating can remain, and a second session is occasionally advised.
The underarms hold only a small share of your sweat glands, so treating them does not affect your ability to cool down. Compensatory sweating elsewhere is a known effect of surgery on the nerves, not of these treatments.
After Botox, small bruises or tenderness at the injection points; on the hands, temporary grip weakness can occur. After laser, a few days of swelling, bruising or altered sensation in the area. Rare risks are discussed at your assessment.
Botox for hands, feet and the intimate area, and for anyone who wants to try treatment first. Laser liposhaving for underarm sweating when you want a lasting answer. Many patients start with Botox and move to laser once they know how much difference dryness makes.
