WHAT IS BLEPHAROPLASTY?

The eyes are the first thing people read.

With age, eyelid skin stretches, the muscles relax and fat pushes forward. Upper lids become hooded and heavy — sometimes enough to block side vision — and lower lids develop bags that make you look tired even when you are not.

Blepharoplasty removes or repositions excess skin, fat and muscle. Upper-lid incisions sit in the natural crease; lower lids are treated through a cut just below the lashes or from inside the eyelid (transconjunctival), leaving no visible scar.

YOUR RECOVERY

What the first weeks look like.

  1. D1

    Surgery day

In a private, Ministry of Health-authorised operating theatre. Most people go home the same day with cold compresses and eye care instructions.

  2. D7

    Stitches out

Swelling and bruising peak in the first days. Stitches or strips are usually removed after about a week.

  3. W2

    Back to work

Most people return to work after about two weeks; bruising and redness can take several weeks to fade fully.

  4. M3

    Final result

Scars soften and become hard to see over a few months, and the final shape settles.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Long-lasting — but not frozen in time.

Removed skin and fat do not grow back, so upper-lid results often last ten years or more; lower-lid results usually last longer still. But skin keeps ageing, and the brows can descend, so a natural change continues.

As the NHS guide to eyelid surgery explains, temporary puffiness, dry or watery eyes and blurred vision are common at first, while serious problems such as bleeding behind the eye are rare. We screen for dry eye, thyroid eye disease and medicines before surgery.

QUESTIONS

Blepharoplasty, answered.

How much does blepharoplasty cost in Seychelles?

At Victoria Aesthetics, upper blepharoplasty starts from SCR 30,600, lower from SCR 44,200, four-eyelid from SCR 52,700, Endolift closed blepharoplasty from SCR 57,000 and upper lids with a direct brow lift from SCR 62,400. The surgical consultation is SCR 1,500.

Will there be visible scars?

Upper-lid scars sit in the natural crease and are usually hard to see once healed. Lower lids can be treated from inside the eyelid, leaving no visible scar.

Is it done under local or general anaesthesia?

Upper blepharoplasty is usually done under local anaesthesia. Lower, four-lid and combined procedures may use sedation or general anaesthesia, given by a specialist anaesthesia team.

How long is the recovery?

Stitches come out after about a week and most people return to work after around two weeks. Bruising can take several weeks to fade fully.

Are the results permanent?

The removed skin and fat do not come back, and many patients enjoy their result for ten years or more, but the skin continues to age naturally.

What is Endolift closed blepharoplasty?

A minimally invasive laser technique for selected lower lids: a fine fibre under the skin tightens the tissue and reduces fat without a surgical incision. Not everyone is a candidate.

Who performs blepharoplasty Seychelles patients book at the clinic?

Surgery is planned and led by Dr. Eric Licea, founder and medical director, in private operating theatres authorised by the Seychelles Ministry of Health.

Can it improve my vision?

When heavy upper lids block your side or upper vision, removing the excess skin can widen your field of view. We assess this at consultation.
