WHY HORMONES CHANGE

Not in your head. In your chemistry.

For both sexes, hormone production begins to decline from around the mid-thirties and continues progressively. In women the fall is steep around menopause; in men it is slower and more gradual.

Ageing and genetics play a part, and so do lifestyle and health: physical inactivity, poor sleep, smoking, poor nutrition, chronic stress, excess weight, diabetes and thyroid disorders can all lower hormone levels. That is why we look at the whole picture — and treat only when symptoms and blood results agree.

What the evidence says

WHAT THE EVIDENCE SAYS

Benefits and risks, honestly.

Hormone therapy is one of the best-studied areas of medicine. Here is what the leading evidence tells us.

FOR WOMEN · MENOPAUSAL HORMONE THERAPY

The most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms.

  • Hormone therapy is the most effective treatment for hot flushes and night sweats, and helps prevent bone loss and fracture.
  • For healthy women under 60, or within 10 years of menopause, without contraindications, the benefits outweigh the risks.
  • Transdermal routes and lower doses may reduce the risk of blood clots and stroke.
  • Starting after 60, or more than 10 years after menopause, the balance is less favourable — which is why timing and individual assessment matter.

Source: The Menopause Society (NAMS) 2022 Hormone Therapy Position Statement.

FOR MEN · TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT

Reassuring safety data, when properly indicated.

  • In the large TRAVERSE trial, men with confirmed low testosterone and high cardiovascular risk had no increase in major cardiac events on testosterone compared with placebo.
  • Diagnosis required symptoms plus two low morning testosterone tests — the same standard we follow.
  • The trial did see more atrial fibrillation, blood clots and fractures in the testosterone group, so monitoring matters.
  • Testosterone can worsen sleep apnoea, raise red-cell counts and stimulate the prostate.

HORMONES & METABOLISM

Often the missing link in weight loss.

After 40, hormonal decline and metabolic slowdown often travel together. In our Hormonal Renewal & Metabolic Reset programmes, bioidentical HRT for women and testosterone for men are strongly recommended from 40, or whenever labs or symptoms confirm an imbalance.

SAFETY FIRST

The right dose, for the right person, reviewed over time.

  • Lab-guidedNo hormone is prescribed without blood tests and a full medical history.
  • Pharmaceutical-grade and bioidenticalHormones with the same structure as those your body makes.
  • Monitored for as long as you continueLevels and safety markers are rechecked, because over-replacement causes problems too.

WOMEN · WE WILL NOT START HRT WITH

  • A history of breast or womb cancer.
  • Unexplained vaginal bleeding, until investigated.
  • A previous blood clot or stroke, without specialist review.
  • Active liver disease, or pregnancy.

MEN · WE WILL NOT START TRT WITH

  • Prostate or breast cancer.
  • A raised PSA or haematocrit, until investigated.
  • Untreated severe sleep apnoea.
  • Plans to father a child soon — testosterone can suppress sperm production.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions.

What are bioidentical hormones?

Hormones with the same chemical structure as those your body produces, such as oestradiol, progesterone and testosterone. We use pharmaceutical-grade preparations, prescribed individually.

Do I need a blood test first?

Yes. We recommend drawing your hormone lab panel in advance, so your results are ready for review during your consultation. For men, low testosterone is confirmed with two morning tests.

Is hormone therapy safe for women?

For most healthy women under 60, or within 10 years of menopause, without contraindications, the benefits outweigh the risks, according to The Menopause Society. Transdermal routes and lower doses may reduce the risk of clots and stroke. Your personal and family history decide what is right for you.

Is testosterone therapy safe for men?

In men with confirmed low testosterone, the large TRAVERSE trial found no increase in major cardiac events compared with placebo, although atrial fibrillation, blood clots and fractures were more frequent. That is why we diagnose carefully and monitor PSA, haematocrit and your levels throughout.

Will testosterone affect my fertility?

It can. Testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production, so if you plan to father a child soon, tell us before starting — there are other options to discuss.

What about growth hormone?

Growth hormone is replaced only when a genuine adult deficiency is confirmed by testing. For most patients, GH-releasing peptides — which stimulate your own production — are the approach we use.

How long before I feel a difference?

Many women notice improvements in hot flushes and sleep within weeks; energy, libido and body composition changes in both sexes usually take longer. Your doctor reviews your progress and adjusts the plan at each follow-up.

Can hormone therapy help with weight loss?

Hormonal decline and metabolic slowdown often go together after 40. In our weight-loss programmes, bioidentical HRT or testosterone are strongly recommended from 40, or when labs confirm an imbalance.

What patients say.

The compliment we hear most is “I feel like myself again”.

  • “The night sweats stopped and I sleep through again. I had forgotten what that felt like.”

  • “They tested twice before prescribing anything. Six months on, my energy is back.”

  • “Combined with the weight-loss programme, it was the missing piece for me.”

  • “Clear explanations of the risks and the benefits. I never felt rushed.”

OUR COMMITMENT

Satisfaction Guarantee

We would like to give you a 100% satisfaction guarantee for all our treatments, because we believe in each treatment we offer and in the quality and preparation of our staff. We will always offer you the treatment that we honestly believe could benefit you the most.

Ultimately, you are free to decide whether to move forward with all, some, or none of the treatment options we propose. Please take your time to consider whether our approach suits your needs in whole or at least in part.

What we can and cannot guarantee

Aesthetic and medical results are variable from person to person and many elements influence them. Although we do our best to achieve the result you desire, results cannot always be guaranteed. Ageing is a complex process influenced by many variables, and it does not stop.

Most people need a combination of treatments over a variable period — from weeks to months — followed by intermittent maintenance treatments to preserve the results obtained. This approach gives you the greatest chance of a natural, genuine and long-lasting rejuvenation.

What we do promise and guarantee are the highest possible standards in products used, human team, comfort, discretion, and safe and personalised attention, regardless of the treatment.

Your decisions and responsibilities

  • You are free to accept or reject our treatment proposal at any stage of the process. Please discuss your concerns and doubts thoroughly with our team before agreeing to a personalised treatment plan.
  • To be emphatic: you agree to purchase the treatment offered, not the result of the treatment performed.
  • You are responsible for the cost of additional treatments until you achieve the results you expect.
  • Your responsibility also covers the cost of resolving complications that may occur during or because of the treatments you undergo. We will do everything possible to limit such risks, following up-to-date protocols with sufficiently trained personnel.
  • Where complications are resolved in our centre, the charges for materials will be borne by you and we will cover the cost of performing the work.
  • Please read the informed consent documents and post-treatment care instructions in full, and ask us if you have any questions.

Disclaimer of warranties

We deliver the service “as is”, “with all faults” and “as available”, and the full risk as to satisfactory quality, execution, precision, safety and effort is with you. To the maximum level permitted by applicable law, we make no representations, warranties or conditions, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title and non-infringement, or that access to the service will be continuous or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the level permitted by applicable law, Victoria Wellness Center and its staff shall not be liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, punitive or exemplary damages, or for loss of use, data, business, revenues or profits arising out of or in connection with the services. The cumulative liability of the protected entities will not exceed the amount paid by you, if any, for accessing the service.

Term and termination

These terms remain in full force and effect until terminated. Either party may terminate them at any time without notice. Upon termination or expiration, Victoria Wellness Center will stop providing the service to you.
